Abstract

Staphylococcus is considered as the third important diseases producing factor of animal origin food. Milk and dairy products provide proper medium for the growth of Staphylococcus. It is a known source for Staphylococcal poisoning. In this study, we determined the occurrence of different types of Staphylococcus in ice-cream samples around districts in Kabul city. A total of 10 samples randomly collected from markets and different shops of Kabul city. The collected samples, under the sterile conditions transferred to Institute of diagnostic laboratory and Animal Health disease Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. This study revealed that 0.6 percent of ice-cream samples were contaminated with different types of Staphylococcus. Staphylococci present in 6 samples of ice-cream were coagulase positive. From the present study it is concluded that the contamination of ice-cream is possible due to different factors so we should pay attention concerning to hygienic conditions during production and it is better to use pasteurized milk.
