Abstract
Academic transparency is pivotal in combating corruption and ensuring the integrity of academic affairs. However, university academic research activities are often conducted without regard to transparency, resulting in limited contributions to knowledge production and societal advancement. Surprisingly, there has been a lack of research addressing the issue of academic transparency within the country's universities, which prompted the initiation of this study. The central research question guiding this investigation is the identification of challenges impeding academic transparency within universities and formulating potential solutions. This research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and employs field research methods. Data was collected through a comprehensive questionnaire and subsequent quantitative and qualitative analyses. The findings of this study have unveiled significant challenges obstructing academic transparency, notably including a lack of awareness among professors regarding research methodology, inadequate resources for conducting research, deficiencies in legal documentation, and instances of unfair social interactions that foster corruption within universities. Enhancing the capacity-building of professors and students in research methodology is imperative to surmount these challenges. Moreover, universities should prioritize providing essential legal, financial, and administrative resources. Implementing a system of incentives and penalties can also promote a culture of rigorous research and academic integrity.
