Abstract
The livestock sector supports people's livelihoods more than any other industry. Its growth, through increased production, raw materials for industry, and the fulfillment of society's food needs, is a crucial economic concern. In our country, significant investment in this sector has been lacking, with only recent efforts made by the private sector in establishing some poultry and livestock farms. Despite these advancements, there remains a reliance on imported modified breeds and edible products, highlighting the sector's dependence on foreign assistance. This limits the potential of livestock production. This article discusses the importance of livestock in the national economy, particularly its contributions to GDP, exports, investment, job creation, and poverty reduction.
